Last weekend, the sensational Gunhild Carling lit up the stage for the 11th annual WMSE Big Band Grandstand performance. If you haven’t heard of Gunhild Carling, Sweden’s Queen of Swing, you are missing out! Lindy Hop MKE had the pleasure to share the stage with her last weekend at Turner Hall, in Milwaukee! She is a jazz musician known for her high-energy performances and blending of vintage pop, swing, and traditional jazz. Carling plays the trumpet, trombone, bagpipes, piano, and more, often switching instruments during a performance.

For the sixth time, Lindy Hop MKE was invited to step on stage with Gunhild Carling and her incredible band. As her high-energy poured across the room, our dancing was able to elevate the performance by turning the entire stage into a celebration of jazz!

Paté Nassalang choreographed a Lindy Hop routine to her song “You’re the music”, which we also recently performed for our swing community at Falcon Bowl’s Traditional Tuesdays. Throughout the show you would have seen the Shim Sham, Tranky Doo and 1920’s Charleston dances. If you missed the show, you can catch us again on Friday 12/12 in Baraboo, WI at the AL. Ringling Theater.

Opportunities like this are exactly why we love performing – and we’re growing. If you’ve ever dreamed of dancing on stage and sharing the spotlight, we’d love to have you join our performance group!
